About

I never think in strictly ethnographic terms (for example, let’s travel to some remote island to study the natives). My goal is always to discover something about humankind in general, and cinema is my tool.

Nicolas Philibert

I was born in 1973. I attended the Liceo Classico in Alba and in 2000 I graduated from the University of Turin with a degree in Philosophy, having completed my thesis on social anthropology.

Since 2001 I have been working as director, author, camera operator and editor.

In 2005 I founded the Settembre Film production company (active until 2014).

In 2011 I was selected for the ESoDoc training program for documentary professionals.

I was amongst the founding members and former president of the cultural association La Scatola Gialla, created to promote and implement artistic, communication and image education projects.

In 2015 I joined the Cinema Department of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo.

The documentary is my passion.
Through my documentaries I tell stories, I explore visions of the world and models of society, and I suggest paths of reflection. Sometimes I give a voice to those who don’t have one.

I also create audiovisual communication tools: institutional films, information/promotion/awareness videos, commercials, didactic videos, industrial films, fundraising videos.

I also like to devote myself to artistic projects that allow me to delve into unusual habitats and experiment with new forms of expression: short films, video-art works, creative video-tales of cultural events, author reportages.

I design and conduct audiovisual workshops where children, teenagers and even adults have the opportunity to experience the expressive potential of video, moving from the usual condition of passive users to active creators of images.
